Originally established in 1972 in Austin, TX, our founder, Alvin Ord Johnston and the help of his nephews, set out to revolutionize the art of sandwich making. What began as a humble endeavor has evolved into a beloved institution known for its dedication to crafting extraordinary sandwiches.

Passed down through generations, this bread, known as Gertie's Legacy Loaf, embodies tradition and the warmth of home. Each loaf is crafted with care, using time-honored techniques that pay homage to Alvin Ord's mother, a local legend in Longview, TX.
